Try BMX Racing Day at Cochrane BMX!
Date: September 21st, 2024
Time: 10am - 12pm
Did you know that Cochrane has a BMX Racing Club and track, located right in town on the AG Society Grounds. Cochrane BMX is opening up their track to the public to give it a try on September 21st and they want to see as many Bike Cochrane members as possible to give the track a try! They will have BMX race bikes to borrow in all sizes, and full face helmets.
Come on up and check out what this Olympic Sport is all about. Cochrane BMX has members from the age of 3 to 65, this sport is for everyone!
Why BMX Racing?
Community: If you're looking for a great cycling community to join, this is the place.
Skills: The skills you learn on the BMX track transfer exponentially to mountain bikes on trails and pump tracks.
Fun: BMX Racing is so much fun. As an individual sport in a team environment, there's so much to win. You ride when you want, and push yourself at a level you're comfortable with.
Confidence on bikes: If you're looking for your kids to be around other riders (from beginners to experts), and get encouraged to ride, and feel confidence when their skills improve, bmx is for you and your family.
When is BMX Season?
BMX season typically starts in May, and ends in September.
What to bring:
To try out the BMX track, please arrive with long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes and gloves. A full-face helmet is required, but their club has loaner helmets and bikes. Waivers will need to be completed, so anyone under 18 needs a parent present. They'll have coaches, riders and members on site to give you tips and help you understand what BMX racing is all about.
Can't make it on September 21?
Although the BMX season is almost over, we encourage you to follow www.instagram.com/cochrane_bmx and keep an eye out for race nights or open track times. They encourage anyone who wants to try the bmx track, to come anytime it's open.
