Try BMX Racing Day! At Cochrane BMX

Try BMX Racing Day at Cochrane BMX!

Date: Mayr 25th, 2025
Time: TBD

Did you know that Cochrane has a BMX Racing Club and track, located right in town on the AG Society Grounds. Cochrane BMX is opening up their track to the public to give it a try on May 25th and they want to see as many Bike Cochrane members as possible to give the track a try! They will have BMX race bikes to borrow in all sizes, and full face helmets.

Come on up and check out what this Olympic Sport is all about. Cochrane BMX has members from the age of 3 to 65, this sport is for everyone!

Why BMX Racing?

Community: If you're looking for a great cycling community to join, this is the place.

Skills: The skills you learn on the BMX track transfer exponentially to mountain bikes on trails and pump tracks.

Fun: BMX Racing is so much fun. As an individual sport in a team environment, there's so much to win. You ride when you want, and push yourself at a level you're comfortable with.

Confidence on bikes: If you're looking for your kids to be around other riders (from beginners to experts), and get encouraged to ride, and feel confidence when their skills improve, bmx is for you and your family.

When is BMX Season?
BMX season typically starts in May, and ends in September.

What to bring:
To try out the BMX track, please arrive with long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes and gloves. A full-face helmet is required, but their club has loaner helmets and bikes. Waivers will need to be completed, so anyone under 18 needs a parent present. They'll have coaches, riders and members on site to give you tips and help you understand what BMX racing is all about.

Can't make it on May 25th?
The BMX season is just about to being! We encourage you to follow www.instagram.com/cochrane_bmx and keep an eye out for race nights or open track times. They encourage anyone who wants to try the bmx track, to come anytime it's open.

Need more details on Cochrane BMX?
Visit their website, and reach out to them with any questions.

Further details available closer to the event.

What is an enduro race?

If you don’t follow the current trends in mountain bike racing, enduro racing might be a bit of a mystery to you.

It’s the latest highly popular racing trend in the MTB scene where the downhill sections of trail are timed, and the uphill sections are mandatory (ie: not on a chairlift or shuttle vehicle) but are not timed. The race will include 5 stages of timed downhill fun, fastest combined time wins.

Parents are welcome to ride with their young racers and can follow behind during the timed stages. For racers under 7 years old towwhee type devices are permitted.

Racer tech guide will be released closer to race time.

*All racers and riding parents must be Bike Cochrane members. Special discounted youth membership available.

Food:

Aid stations will be on course with some snacks and water refills to keep racers fuelled, but please remember to pack some of your own as well

Food trucks will be on site for post race re-fuelling. Neapolitan Express Pizza, Wanna Waffle and Colombian Harvest Coffee Truck

Refunds: Your race fee’s go towards the work that is put into preparing for this years race. In the event of extreme weather or acts of god and the race needs to be postponed, your fee will go towards the new date chosen. If we are able to rescheduled the race, and your schedule has a conflict, your race fee will go towards the 2026 Youth Enduro. Try BMX Racing Day! At Cochrane BMX

Try BMX Racing Day at Cochrane BMX!

Date: September 21st, 2024
Time: 10am - 12pm

Did you know that Cochrane has a BMX Racing Club and track, located right in town on the AG Society Grounds. Cochrane BMX is opening up their track to the public to give it a try on September 21st and they want to see as many Bike Cochrane members as possible to give the track a try!

Can't make it on September 21?
Although the BMX season is almost over, we encourage you to follow www.instagram.com/cochrane_bmx and keep an eye out for race nights or open track times. They encourage anyone who wants to try the bmx track, to come anytime it's open.

Need more details on Cochrane BMX?
Visit their website, and reach out to them with any questions.

Ladies Mountain Bike Group Ride - Local

All levels welcome (must have some mountain bike experience and be comfortable on dirt trails) to join us on this no-drop fun and friendly all ladies group rides. We’ll start at the Cochrane Ranche House (101 RancheHouse Road) and possibly end at a local Coffee shop for some post ride social time (be sure to bring a lock!). This group ride is a great way to explore trails in Cochrane, and get to know other like minded ladies. Please reach out to cindyjtester@gmail.com with any questions.
